First, HUGE apologies since we've had a huge lack of updates. Us founders have been pretty busy
Anyways, we've got some new members, check the list at the bottom of the entry, and go say hi
For those new members, just a brief run through.
We aren't holding any contests yet, however when we build up more members and are able to keep the club more active we would like to have contests for an avatar, a club ID, deviers and a head for a journal, and whatever other ideas come up
We also differ from other broadway fangroups, in that the journal features aren't to feature a specific broadway artist on dA, or broadway fanart (Those can be seen in our gallery however
---
And now, for the new feature.
This feature, is focusing on the play Tick Tick Boom
I'm sure many of you are familiar with the broadway show, RENT. (BTW, The movie is coming out in the states soon
Jonathon Larson also wrote the play Tick Tick Boom. Tick Tick Boom does have a lot in common with RENT. City Life, Roommates, friends. It also has it's differences.
The original title of Tick Tick Boom was 30/90, because of the year (1990) and the age (30) or Jonathon Larson at the time. It also originally started as a one man autobiographal play. However, it was adjusted to include three performers instead of the one.
Tick Tick Boom is based on a short period of Jonathon Larson's life, following the period of time leading up to his 30th birthday. Tick Tick Boom leads us through Jonathon's struggle with accepting his birthday (the first track, "30/90"), love ("Green Green Dress" <--Addicting song, damnit!), purpose ("Johnny Has No Guide"), Living in the city ("No More"), references to when Jonathon Larson used to work at his father's diner ("Sunday"), Again; dealing with relationships ("Therapy" , another addicting, and highly funny track. If any of you have heard of the play ~LeahSora says it reminds her of something out of Avenue Q, which in someways the voices and beat do sound similar). Other tracks that're included in Tick Tick Boom are "Sugar" "See Her Smile" "Real Life" "Come to your senses" "why" "louder than words" and "Boho Days"
Green Green Dress, is almost a parallel of RENT's "Contact" Though less NC-17
No More would then be similar to "Rent" the song, with Sunday being La Vie Boheme.
Boho Dya salso touches the subject of Bohemia, many songs in Tick Tick Boom also have similar references as songs in RENT.
Wizard of Oz references, roommates, New York City, Diners, working on relationships, Apartment keys being thrown down because there is no buzzer! (Oh, you love that too).
While subject matter is almost exactly the same as RENT, the melodies are a beat completely their own. Catchy, upbeat even on depressing topics, this is definitally a soundtrack anyone could enjoy, though it has about half the number of tracks RENT does.
Definitally worth a listen, to RENT fans and otherwise.
